Calcatta Oro, member of the Calacatta family of stones from the Carrara region of Italy, contrasts the white backdrop of Calacatta with prominent grey veins and gold blooms along the edges of the veins. These gold flowers may vary from finer fine lines to broader patches sprinkled around the stone.

Calacatta marble is a rarer than carrara and is more white than gray with dramatic veining that results in thick, predominate patterns. Not to be confused with Statuario is the most precious marble varieties found in Italy. … It has distinctive veining that can range from gold to gray.
