About This Project

Great Article by Lauren Powell from REA Group I have gone ahead and given my own take on this.

Each and every year brings new trends, new ideas and new techniques for the home, and while many elements of décor will never go out of style, interior design trends come and go.

Whether you’re a trendsetter or follower, you can’t deny the impact trends have on our decorating decisions at home.

As we move closer towards 2020, we can’t help but wonder about the next interior trends to dominate in the year ahead. Here, Australia’s top interior experts tell us their predictions

  • 1. Wall panelling

Wall Paneling  will soar to new heights in 2020.

Whilst already present in 2019, wall panelling is a trend that will remain strong right through 2020 and beyond,

It is an affordable design solution that gives a space ‘wow-factor’, but doesn’t require a large budget to be able to introduce it to your home.”

The Hamptons, part of the East End of Long Island, comprise a group of villages and hamlets in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton

Hamptons style has taken Australian interiors by storm and we know why – the fresh, airy palette of white-washed linens, natural textures, ocean inspired blues and freshly painted white timber finishes work beautifully in Australian homes.

  • 4. More Terrazzo but mainly as Highlights

Everyone the last couple of years has gone a little cray cray on the whole terrazzo look.

  • 7.Fluted glass

If you’re not familiar with fluted glass, you soon will be

“This is a nod to the Art Deco era. We will see fluted glass being applied to a number of different applications such as shower screens, inset into joinery in kitchen cabinets, and as general room dividers rather than gyprock walls.”

I’d love to see more use of Stained Glass really think this is a huge part of my design going forward

  • 8.Aged Brass accents

Say no more. It has been the top choice for many designers over the years and I believe this is here to stay.

This accelerated aged look is achieved by chemically treating each brass piece. Tone can vary depending on whether the brass is extruded, cast, machined or forged, but the result is a beautiful organic appearance. Over time the raw brass surface will further evolve as it reacts to the natural atmosphere it is in. Areas that are touched by hand become lighter, while areas that are rarely touched darken and oxidise to create a beautiful organic appearance.

  • 9.Exotic Stone Material
Although white and grey have reigned supreme in the bathroom design scene for much of last two decades, tasteful pops of color have begun to re-surge in recent years. Regardless of the material’s hue, the use and awareness of organic materials has been on the rise. Today’s luxury homes celebrate authenticity, opting for natural stone and hand-crafted glass and ceramic over synthetic materials. Advancing technology, i.e. precise and expedient machine cutting, also allows for sophisticated statement patterns, made of such organic materials, adding innovative variety to timeless classics. These mosaics are often employed in bath and shower floors, for traction, and as coordinating details inside of shower niches and on accent walls. Look out for amazing Onyx material.
