Breeze Blocks are having a moment and in a big way. Although accumulating popularity in the 1950’s and 60’s, the general consensus until this point was Breeze Blocks were widely loathed and reviled for being ugly and out of date. But as they say everything comes back around and Breeze Blocks seem to be no exception. While particularly associated with a beachy, holiday feeling, Gold Coast motels, and of course the famous Palm Springs Hotel, it is actually their durability, sound insulation and fire resistance which seems to be the key factor in their sudden resurrection. They are also easily transferable from internal to external Installation and are great for both wet and dry areas. It is easy to see the return of the Breeze as part of a movement in architecture which is more interest in preserving classic feature and re-exploring the richness and adornment of the past. So all hail the breeze block, a material redeemed.
